Remember the days when flying was a glamorous affair?
Well Aussie airline Qantas is bringing the glamour back to air travel, with an exciting new look for its cabin crew. Who better to model the new stylish uniform than gorgeous Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr? The Victoria’s Secret angel and the Qantas Crew showcased the new designs in a catwalk show at the Hordon Pavillion in Sydney. Australian actress Cate Blanchett was also sitting front row to watch them strut their stuff.
Australian designer Martin Grant designed 35 styles for males and females, to be worn by 12,600 uniformed employees from early 2014.
Martin Grant said of the new uniforms; “I strived for something simple and durable, while adding a bold colour palette. I wanted to create a uniform that reflected the glamour of flying and something that would suit every body shape.”
The designer took inspiration from the Qantas triangle logo, incorporating diagonal stripes of ruby red and fuschia pink into the tops, dresses and ties. Even the trench overcoats have a fold-down lapel which reveals a flash of red.
Our favourite part? The Christian Louboutin pumps with trademark red soles!
Female employees will wear a combination of a dress, tops, a suit and a trench overcoat, with a stylish scarf and a trilby hat to complete the look. The males will wear structured navy suiting, a tie, and similar trench overcoats.
Fifteen types of fabrics have been used, including Australian wool for the suits and cotton blends for the shirts, to create a uniform that is both comfortable and stylish to wear in the workforce.
