[box]With Hollywood’s biggest stars out in full-force at the Venice Film Festival 2012, we can’t help but sit up and pay attention to what they’re wearing. So it’s time for a celebrity frock-off: who wins the award for the best dress?[/box]
The Venice Film Festival celebrates its 69th year this year and while it started out small and sweet, it has since grown to become one of the largest film festivals going and not only that; each year we fashion lovers sit tight, try not to fidget, and await news on the festivals most delicious fashion moments!
Now, don’t take this the wrong way, of course we love a little culture, and this is a Film festival! But let’s be honest, we’re Fashion people!
So when we’re scouring the festival highlights and come across some celebrity snaps, we just can’t help but get distracted!
Already, we’re seeing a trend occurring in the way of lustrous lace and cobweb-like embroidery.
Frock Off!
Kate Hudson (1) dazzled her way down the red carpet for the première of The Reluctant Fundamentalist in a nude, Swarovski embroidered, Atelier Versace Fall 2012 gown. A dress that so few could wear, fits Kate like a glove. The strapless, figure-hugging gown really showed off her fabulous figure.
And while Kate dazzled, Naomi Watts (2) attending the same première shares a similar Nude vision, in lashings of lace casting the most flattering of silhouettes. But where the Marchesa Resort 2013 dress may have lacked in sparkle, the lovers glint in Naomi’s eye and the bluesy glamour of years gone by give Naomi every thing she needs to work the red carpet.
Meanwhile! Fiammetta Cicogna (3) sashays in this sweet Alberta Ferretti frock and Laetitia Casta (4) sways in a more sinful Dolce and Gabbana number. Fiammetta accessorizes with a playful ponytail, wide-eyed smile and simple earings to enhance her pretty ensemble, and Laetitia goes soft and subtle with platform sandals, minimal make-up and slicked back hair, allowing for the full impact of the dress to carry (although where she carried her lipstick I have no idea!)
When it comes to Hudson Vs Watts and Cicogna Vs Casta, who wins the Venice Film Festival 2012 Battle of Lace? Leave your comments below!
